Born in Taiwan and raised in Thailand with a Western education, Eleen Lin is a third culture kid inhabiting non-places of generic cities. In the age of cultural cannibalism where everything is brought together and rearranged to formulate new identities, she reiterates folklores and classical literatures into contemporized cross-cultural narratives. Lin’s paintings illustrate the nomadic solitary experience of drifting among various traditions, the dichotomy between visionary evocation and visual representation, and the obscurity of cultural boundaries today.

Lin earned an MFA from Yale School of Art and a BA at Slade School of Fine Art, UK. Her work has been exhibited in Guangdong Museum of Art, China, Queens Museum of Art, USA, Gwangju Museum of Art, Korea, and galleries throughout Austria, Thailand, Taiwan, United Kingdom and the United States. Lin has been honored with The Elizabeth Canfield Hicks Award and Sanyu Scholarships from Yale University, and has participated with NYFA Immigrant Artist Projects, Fountainhead Residency, and the AIM program at The Bronx Museum of Art, among others. The artist lives and works in New York.
