This piece looks at the leopard population that moves between the Sanjay Gahndi National Park and the streets of the surrounding city of Mumbai in India. Leopards are one of the most adaptable of big cats and have found ways to sustain themselves through hunting feral dogs in this highly populated urban area.
This painting was not only inspired by research and conservation data on urban wildlife but also has connections to the saying
“a leopard cannot change its spots”.
A sister piece was be completed in 2023
about the mountain lions of LA.
