Richard Klein has exhibited widely, including the Neuberger Museum of Art at SUNY Purchase, Caren Golden Fine Art, NY, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, WI, Hales Gallery, London, Schoolhouse Gallery, Provincetown, MA, Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, OR, Tufts University Art Gallery, MA, the Gallery at WCSU, and the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center, VT. His work is included in numerous public and private collections, including the Norton Family Collection, Santa Monica, CA, the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Lincoln, MA. 

 

Klein is a curator and writer. He is the Exhibitions Director of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT. In his twenty-year career as a curator of contemporary art, he has organized over 80 exhibitions, including solo shows of the work of Roy Lichtenstein, Sol LeWitt, Mark Dion, Hank Willis Thomas, Mary Temple, Jack Whitten, Jessica Stockholder, Tom Sachs, Elana Herzog, and others. Major curatorial projects at The Aldrich have included Fred Wilson: Black Like Me (2006), No Reservations: Native American History and Culture in Contemporary Art (2006), Elizabeth Peyton: Portrait of an Artist (2008), Michael Joo: Drift (2014), and Weather Report (2019). Klein has acted as a guest curator at numerous institutions, including Aljira Center for Contemporary Art, Newark, NJ, and Chesterwood National Trust for Historic Preservation, Stockbridge, MA. 

 

Klein’s essays on art and culture have appeared in Cabinet Magazine and have been included in books published by Hatje Cantz, Damiani, Picturebox, Ridinghouse, and the University of Chicago Press, among others.
